Monitoring and ownership

Public, health and cultural national institutions and organisations need to monitor by making sure obesity is being reduced by 25% in 2030. They use indicators through kids development (ex. keeping track of weight and health issues), law regulation, informing people (ex. talking to teachers and parents).

Implementation and Results

In april 2025, the Spanish government created the royal law reinforcement (decreto real in Spanish) based on 3 policies: State action plan for the implementation of the European child guarantee (2022-2030), The II national human rights plan (2023-2027) and the National strategic plan for the reduction of childhood obesity (2022-2030). This last policy is the one that it has been selected and mentioned on this website. This shows that the policy had a positive effect as it was used to implement concrete actions such as a day-to-day national school meal. The royal law reinforcement expects schools to provide specific meals. For example, at least 2 whole wheat bread and legumes, natural added sugar (ex. from honey or fruit) as much as possible, maximum of 0.5 of salt (0.2 sodium) per packaged ration.
